BREXIT: NEW YEAR UPDATE

On my return to Parliament, I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you a very happy New Year. Although, before we can enjoy the coming year, we have the small matter of Brexit to sort out.

As I said previously, I am minded to vote against the deal, because of the backstop.

GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE FUNDING AVAILABLE TO POLICE

Giles Watling, MP for Clacton, has welcomed the decision by the Government to increase funding available to Police & Crime Commissioners (PFCCs) by up to £813m, if PFCCs use their precept flexibility fully.

GILES: IT IS A GOOD DEAL, BUT IT NEEDS GUARANTEES

Our Brexit deal, which includes the Withdrawal Agreement and a declaration on our Future Relationship, has now been agreed. I hope that, like me, everyone has taken the time to review these documents in full.

GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH NEW TOURISM SECTOR DEAL

Giles Watling, MP for Clacton, has welcomed the Government’s intention to deliver a landmark sector deal for the UK tourism industry, which will attract more domestic and overseas visitors, and help drive major economic growth.
