Giles Watling MP, Member of Parliament for Clacton, has welcomed today the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, saying it is "vital" for levelling up Britain and his constituency.
The Statement, delivered today in the House of Commons, pledges to maintain the triple lock, cut National Insurance from 12% to 10% - a saving of around £450 for the average worker - as well as freeze alcohol duty, increase pensions by 8.5%, and deliver more leveling up investment.
Welcoming the statement, Mr Watling said: "This Statement is very good news for Britain. It is completely vital that we level up the economy and encourage growth and investment whilst ensuring that working people see more of their money in their pay docket each month. I am pleased that the Chancellor has chosen to make careful choices to ensure maximum benefit for Britons. I am particularly pleased to see support for SMEs, which will uplift businesses around the country."
The National Insurance cut will come into effect from the 6th of January.
Parliament will now debate the budget over the coming days.
