At Energy and Net Zero Oral Questions in Parliament, Giles Watling MP asked the Minister Andrew Bowie what could be done to prevent pylons being put up across the countryside when alternative arrangements could be made instead.
Speaking on social media, Mr Watling said: "I am concerned about plans to cover the East Anglian countryside with pylons when less-invasive options such as undersea cabling exist. I asked the Minister what was being done in this regard."
Mr Watling has previously suggested that the Dengie Peninsula, namely the Bradwell site, could be used for energy infrastructure given its existing connections to the national grid. By utilising undersea cables and Bradwell, energy could be transferred into the grid without having to construct additional pylons in Essex and East Anglia, Mr Watling argues.
