I have been deeply shocked and saddened by the recent terrorist attacks in London and Manchester. They have reminded us that extremism, terrorism and hatred take many forms. However, our determination and resolve to tackle them are the same whoever is responsible.
Recent attacks have shown that we need to respond to a new trend in the threat we face, as terrorism breeds terrorism and perpetrators are inspired to attack by coping one another in the crudest of means. The Government remains determined to work with our international partners on security co-operation in order to defeat those who resort to acts of terrorism.
I was heartened to read of the brave efforts of Rabbi Dov Benyaacov-Kurtzman, Professor Yori Gidron and Dr Moshe Farchi. I would be very happy to write to Rabbi Dov Benyaacov-Kurtzman to thank him for his professionalism and courage.
I am proud of our longstanding friendship with Israel. There are strong ties between our two countries in a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, innovation and technology, and defence and security. Earlier this year the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu visited London to meet Theresa May. A key theme of the discussions during the visit was the important work the UK and Israel do together on intelligence sharing and cyber security. You will be pleased to hear that both leaders committed to discuss ways to deepen UK/Israeli co-operation.
