NHS: Social Care Funding

Adult social care is of great concern to me – Clacton has the third highest percentage of residents over 65, at 32.4%.

This Budget provides £410m more in new funding for adult social care, and this is certainly needed. In due course, the Government will also publish a Green Paper on social care, to allow a public consultation to be held. The Government has said that the proposals in Green Paper will “ensure that the care and support system is sustainable in the long term.”

Locally, our health services have also received additional funding for adult social care services, which will help reduce pressures in the NHS this winter. Essex County Council will spend this in a way that maximises benefit for patients, and you can read more here: https://www.gileswatling.co.uk/news/update-giles-welcomes-winter-funding-allocation-nhs-services
