Giles Watling, MP for Clacton, today congratulated local good cause Lads Need Dads as it received a welcome funding boost thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Lads Need Dads was recently awarded £2,000 from Postcode Community Trust, a grant giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. The funding will enable the organisation to continue its work in Clacton.
The funding will go towards its ‘Engage’ programme, which is a 6-month practical life skill training and community volunteering programme teaching boys practical life skills such as D.I.Y., bike repairs, painting and decorating, soldering, plumbing, self-protection and first aid.
Since 2005, over £600 million has been raised for more than 8,500 charities and good causes by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. This includes thousands of grassroots projects in communities across Britain.
Congratulating the organisation, Giles Watling said:
“I’m delighted to hear that Lads Need Dads has been successful in securing funds from Postcode Community Trust. This award-winning local organisation celebrated their fifth anniversary this year and do some amazing work for young men in our area. This award will make a real difference to the work that they are doing across the Clacton constituency and my thanks must go to them and their staff, and, of course, the players of People’s Postcode Lottery for helping to make this possible.
The next opportunity for groups to apply for funding will be in early 2021. Those interested in the opportunity can find out more information by visiting the trusts’ websites:
