Giles Watling, MP for Clacton, is calling on local groups and organisations to participate in UK Parliament Week – a UK-wide annual festival that engages people, especially young people, with Parliament and empowers them to get involved.
UK Parliament Week, which has been developed by the Houses of Parliament as part of its Education and Engagement Service, runs from 12th to 18th November 2018. It attracts different groups and organisations, from primary and secondary schools to uniformed organisations, faith organisations or community groups – there is something for everyone in UK Parliament Week.
You don’t need any prior knowledge about how Parliament works to get involved, and your event can be big or small, public or private. There’s no limit on how you take part, from holding a debate or mock election, to organising guest speakers or even an online event. Moreover, when you register you receive a free UK Parliament Week partner kit with resources to help you run your event.

Giles said:
“Since my election last year, I have been keen to get young people in Clacton interested in politics and the workings of Parliament, and UK Parliament Week is a great way to do that. Signing up and organising an event is easy and free, so I hope that as many local people as possible will participate. And if anyone would like to visit Parliament to see my work first hand, I hope that they will not hesitate to contact me.”
