It is now increasingly likely that I will be asked to make a series of decisions on Brexit over the next few months.
We know that some 70% of local residents voted for Brexit, and I have always wanted to deliver on the result of that referendum, which is one of the main reasons why, I believe, 61% of constituents voted for me in 2017. But it is also clear that there are several different preferred Brexit outcomes in play here, at least according to the thousands of constituents that I have communicated with over the past few years.
My position is that the best way to leave is with a good deal, whilst being prepared to walk away with no deal if acceptable terms cannot be secured; that is what I campaigned for when securing election in 2017. Since then, I have always sought to engage constructively with the views of local residents, to refine my position ahead of any crucial Brexit votes.
This time will be no different and I am now, once again, asking for your input, so I can best represent your views in Parliament. If you would like to contribute, please complete this survey and let me know which potential Brexit outcome(s) you are now happy to end up with. This survey will remain open until further notice.
My most recent statement on the possible Brexit outcomes can be viewed here.
If you have any issues, please do let me know at email@example.com.
With best wishes,
Giles Watling MP
